Welcome to Gumbo's Cajun Restaurant

We are proud to serve authentic Cajun low country cuisine including seafood boils, shellfish, andouille sausage, Gumbo, crab cakes, French onion soup, and much more. Gumbo's also serves signature burgers, a variety of sandwiches, Po’ Boys, and big fresh salads with homemade dressings. We offer many unique appetizers and sides, and a children’s menu is also available. Our restaurant is located in the center of historic downtown Fayetteville on South Court Street. Low Country Cajun Cooking at it's Finest

Cajun cuisine gets its name from the French-speaking Acadian or "Cajun" immigrants to the Acadiana region of Louisiana. Cajun food is rustic cuisine, made with locally available ingredients and simple preparations that reveal French roots as well as Native American and African influences. The combination of these rich traditions makes for a very unique and flavorful cuisine.

Low Country Boil
Our Low Country Boil is a traditional broth loaded with shrimp, andouille sausage, new potatoes, and corn on the cob.

Gumbo's Crab Cakes
Gumbos Crab Cakes are made with Lump Crab meat, diced vegetables and select seasonings. Our crab cakes are offered as a side, or a full meal with red beans, dirty rice and a house salad.

Gumbo
You can’t think of cajun without thinking of Gumbo. Our namesake dish is the real thing: shrimp, oysters, crawfish and andouille in our traditional roux-thickened Gumbo served over white rice.

Shrimp and Mussel Creole
Our Shrimp and Mussel Creole is a spicy dish simmered in a sauce with tomatoes and peppers over white rice.

Shrimp and Grits
Shrimp and Grits is a flavorful dish of shrimp sauteed with bacon, andouille, sweet peppers, garlic, and onions over cheese grits.

Big Bowls and Platter Dishes
All of our big bowl and platter dishes are served with a green house salad with a choice of homemade Bleu Cheese, Summer Berry Vinaigrette, Balsamic Vinaigrette, or Ranch Dressing.

Gumbos Famous Steampots

Choose from Prince Edward Island Mussels, Shrimp and Crawfish, Peel and Eat Shrimp, Snow Crab Clusters, Shrimp and Crab Clusters or the Combo. All steampots are served in a savory broth with fresh corn on the cob, new potatoes, and andouille sausage with drawn butter, cocktail sauce, homemade Remoulade, a house salad, and french bread.

Our burgers are a local favorite. Come in and try one of these tasty signature sandwiches made with a half pound of ground Angus beef and grilled to order.

Latin Quarter Burger
Brie Cheese, brown mustard and carmelized onions make this a favorite for many of our regular customers.

Dixie Burger
Homemade barbecue sauce, cole slaw and onions top this southern style burger.

Big Easy Burger
Cajun seasoned burger topped with grilled peppers, pepper jack cheese and Remoulade on a toasted bun.

For a light meal or as a paring with one of our entrees, our authentic sides and appetizers compliment any meal or make for a nice sample of our cuisine.

Appetizers
Buffalo Shrimp, Black and Bleu Shrimp, Screamin’ Shrooms, Atlantic Crab Cakes, Snow Crab Clusters , Shrimp Cocktail, Shrimp Boils, Fried Crawfish, and Fried Green Beans.

French Onion Soup
Gumbos’ homemade French Onion Soup is made with a rich stock with plenty of sweet onions and topped with bread and melted provolone.

Jambalaya Shrimp
Our Jambalaya Shrimp Stew is loaded with shrimp, chicken, ham, select vegetables, diced tomatoes and spices.

Just a Big Salad
This one is packed full of organic spring greens, spinach and romaine, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, carrots and red onion. For a bigger appetite, add Fried Crawfish or Blackened Chicken.

Chef's Salad & Muffuletta Salad
We offer a Traditional Chef’s Salad and a Muffuletta Salad with smoked ham, Italian salami and provolone.

Salad Dressings
All salads are served with your choice of homemade dressings: Bleu Cheese, Summer Berry Vinaigrette, Balsamic Vinaigrette, or Ranch.

A Variety of Side Dishes are Available
You can accompany any meal, sandwich or salad with our homemade sides: Coleslaw, Cheese Grits, Fried Okra, Red Beans and Rice, Dirty Rice, Fries, Fried Green Beans, Sweet Potato Fries, and a Small Salad.

Deli Sandwiches and Cajun Po’ Boys

Sandwiches are popular for both lunch and dinner. They include chips and pickled okra.

Grilled Reuben or Rachel
Lean Corned Beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing on Rye bread. For the Rachel substitute turkey.

Ogeechee Turk
Shaved Smoked Turkey Breast mounded with crisp bacon and provolone cheese topped with Ranch dressing on Rye.

Roast Beef Melt
Shaved Roast Beef piled high with Swiss cheese and grilled sweet onions on Rye.

Chicken Salad Sandwich
A generous serving of our own White Meat Chicken Salad with red grapes, celery and a hint of green onion topped with lettuce, tomatoes and served on Ciabatta bread.

Turkey Club
A triple decker sandwich stuffed with Smoked Turkey, Bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on toasted white bread.

Cajun Po' Boys
Po’ Boys are the Cajun version of a sub sandwich served on a toasted hoagie with lettuce, tomato, sweet onion and remoulade. Varieties include: Fried Shrimp, Louisiana Crawfish, Lump Crab Cake, Fried Oysters, Blackened Breast of Chicken with Ranch, Blackened Roast Beef with Bleu Cheese, and Andouille with Sweet Peppers. All of our Po’ Boys are served with chips and Pickled Okra.

Desserts

Our homemade desserts are a wonderful finish to your meal. The dessert menu is subject to change depending on seasonal availability. We currently offer Strawberry Shortcake made with fresh strawberries over a flaky biscuit with real whipped cream. Also: Key Lime Pie, Pecan Pie, Chocolate Fudge Brownie a la mode, Sweet Cream Pie, and various Fruit Cobblers.

Our crab cakes are offered both as an appetizer and an entree. They are made with lump crab meat, diced vegetables and select seasonings.

Our Gumbo is made with shrimp, oysters, crawfish and Andouille sausage and served over rice.

A bowl of French onion soup makes for a great appetizer. Our recipe features a rich stock heavy with sweet onions topped with bread and melted provolone cheese.

Our "Just a Big Salad" comes with a generous amount of organic greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, carrots and red onion. They can be topped with Blackened Chicken or Fried Crawfish to make a filling meal.

For a great sandwich, try a Reuben or a Rachel - Corned Beef or Turkey with Sauerkraut and Thousand Island Dressing served on Rye. Sandwiches are served with chips and pickled okra.

Top off your meal with some homemade Strawberry Shortcake. Our special recipe includes a flakey biscuit topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream
